GNFZ Advisor Mohammed S. Al-Surf, PhD. is a highly accomplished sustainability entrepreneur and climate action specialist in Saudi Arabia and the MENA region who has mobilized sustainability professionals and the industry at large to execute best-in-class sustainable design practices.

Mohammed currently holds the position of Managing Director of Tilad Sustainability Co. where he leads a diverse team dedicated to sustainability and fostering a culture of collaboration and innovation. Previously, he served as a Senior Advisor for Sustainability and Climate Action at Jacobs. Mohammed has stood up professional associations and membership organizations including serving as the Founder of the Green Building Training Center (GBTC) and the Sustainability Professionals in Saudi Arabia Network (SPSA) which has more than 16, 000 members. He previously served as Regional Manager and Market Development for the U.S. Green Building Council in Saudi Arabia and holds credentials as a USGBC Faculty member, LEED AP with specialty in BD+C, an ISSP SEA, an Envision SP, a Mostadam AP, Fitwel and TRUE® Advisor.

A widely recognized thought leader, Dr. Al Surf is the author of several papers and books including, 10 Steps to Become a Sustainability Professional and Sustainable Housing in Saudi Arabia: Opportunities & Challenges. He is a member of several local and international professional entities such as the Saudi Council of Engineers (SCE), the Pacific Rim Real-Estate Society (PRRES), Asian Real-Estate Society (AsRES) and Project Management Institute (PMI). Mohammed has been recognized as one of the “Top 100 Sustainability Voices in the Middle East,” and named "Most Dynamic Entrepreneur Diversifying the Economy from Saudi Arabia in 2024 and 2025." He holds a Ph.D. from Queensland University of Technology in Sustainable and Green Construction.

Mohammed will be advising GNFZ on net zero market transformation in Saudi Arabia and the MENA region at large.
