Kjell Anderson, FAIA, LEED Fellow, is a globally recognized architect and sustainability leader with 25 years of experience advancing the built environment. As Principal and Director of Sustainable Design at LMN, he collaborates with clients to set and exceed ambitious sustainability goals, including project decarbonization, energy performance simulation, and water use reduction. Kjell has led sustainability efforts on numerous public and private buildings targeting LEED, ILFI Zero Carbon, and other high-performance sustainability certifications. His pragmatic vision has been shaped by hands-on work across the United States and leadership roles in developing cutting-edge policy.

Before joining LMN, Kjell served as Associate Principal at Callison, where he established the firm’s energy modeling program and was part of the firmwide sustainability leadership team working on projects in the United States, China, the Philippines, India, and the Middle East.

He is the author of the first architect-centered book on energy modeling, co-author of the AIA’s first climate change policy statement, and co-developer of the Path To Zero Carbon series at LMN. Kjell founded the Seattle Hub of the Carbon Leadership Forum and has served on the AIA National Committee on the Environment. Currently, he serves on the Washington State Building Code Council, chairing the Energy Code Technical Advisory Group for both Residential and Commercial codes. His achievements have been recognized by the AIA College of Fellows and as a LEED Fellow by GBCI.

A sought-after speaker, Kjell has given keynote conferences and contributed to policy discussions at city, state, and national levels. At LMN, he leverages his technical expertise to enhance net-zero platforms, advance decarbonization programs, and expand net-zero thought leadership and action.
