GNFZ Advisor Jeff Ross-Bain, PE, LEED Fellow, WELL AP, is a widely recognized engineer with over 35 years of experience in HVAC design, commissioning, and high-performance green building applications. He is a sought-after industry expert and has worked on building projects in the United States, Australia, France and Great Britian. In 2009, Jeff founded Ross-Bain Green Building (RBGB) where he provides expert technical and integrated support services to owners, architects, engineers and building users to establish and meet their advanced high performance green building goals. RBGB primarily serves the Southeast U.S. region.

Jeff has been involved on over 100 LEED registered or certified projects, has had direct administrative control and provided energy simulations for LEED Certified, Silver, Gold, and Platinum buildings. Furthermore, Jeff has conducted numerous energy and water audits, consults across the gamut of sustainable building issues, conducts new and existing building commissioning, provides sustainable operation and maintenance guidance, and regularly leads college classes, conducts workshops, and delivers talks on a wide array of environmental, operations, energy and sustainability topics. To date, he has presented to over 10,000 attendees, and has conducted talks in the United States, Canada, Europe, Puerto Rico, and India.

Jeff is very active in the advancement of his industry and currently serves on the ASHRAE advisory committee for developing new areas of the Building Energy Modeling Professional (BEMP) exam. Previously, Jeff was a non-voting committee member of ASHRAE Standard 228p (Standard Method of Evaluating Zero Energy Building Performance), was a member of the AIA South Carolina Committee for Building Resilience, and served two terms as a Voting Member on the Standards Committee for ASHRAE Standard 189.1 (Standard for the Design of High-Performance Green Buildings)

In his role as Advisor, Jeff will guide GNFZ’s continued advancement of its net zero certification platform — particularly when it comes to HVAC design, commissioning, maintenance, and other efficiency strategies — and bring projects in the Southeast U.S. region into the GNFZ’s growing list of certified net zero projects.
