How to Accelerate Building Decarbonization at Scale

GNFZ was formed by a team with decades of leadership experience in green building and climate change mitigation. So the first question we asked ourselves was: “how do we accelerate change?”

Accelerating – at scale – the decarbonization of existing buildings, and the pursuit of a zero emissions world, is at the heart of why we developed and launched our net zero certification platform — and we recently had an opportunity to share this work with a thoughtful, ambitious audience.

In the ever-evolving landscape of sustainability and climate tech, moments that bring together industry leaders who can share actionable insights are invaluable. Our CEO and President, Mahesh Ramanujam, was honored to attend 2023’s VERGE conference, presented by GreenBiz, to lend his expertise to the discussion of net zero buildings and the application of our certification.

Thanks to James Darius Ball and the remarkable leaders at GreenBiz, Mahesh moderated a panel focused on decarbonizing the buildings sector in pursuit of corporate goals. At the event, he had a sidebar conversation with Dylan Siegler and John Davies from the GreenBiz Group, where he was able share his insights into the core topic: how to establish net zero buildings. Reflecting on his past work and the progress of the green building movement, Mahesh also advocated for the building sector to develop a net-zero roadmap for each and every structure on the planet, and he was sure to underscore the importance of taking immediate action. He reminded everyone that:

“The transformation of a building has nothing to do with the building. It's about the people inside those buildings, the people around those buildings, particularly after COVID, and the millions of people affected by those buildings.”

With the focus on people serving as GNFZ’s driving force, we launched our innovative net zero platform which stands as the ultimate certification tool, grounded in the principle that climate action should be both widespread and decentralized. Tying back to our mission, we believe the number one way we can help companies accelerate the transition to zero carbon in the built environment is by providing them with an incremental approach to certify their buildings – one that allows them to establish a realistic roadmap to get to net zero and reduces the barriers they’ve previously faced in being able to certify. It’s a step-by-step approach that we’ve perfected at GNFZ.

Our certification platform, designed to empower GNFZ members, offers comprehensive assistance throughout the process of assessing emissions, devising strategies to meet climate targets and expediting the certification of their net zero accomplishments. Functioning as a collaborative platform committed to advancing industry best practices, GNFZ is poised to facilitate your journey toward a net zero future.

Recognizing that 40% of emissions originate from the built environment, our core product is a net zero certification tailored for existing buildings. Whether you represent a company or organization, or are an individual, our certification for existing buildings ensures that all structures not only establish a roadmap to net zero — but also successfully attain it.

Together, we can achieve our global net zero goals and tackle one of the hardest sectors to decarbonize: buildings.

Join us to become part of the fastest growing net zero movement and to advance GNFZ's mission to realize a zero emissions world. Reach out today to learn more about how you can pilot your first existing buildings project on our platform.
