Design2Occupancy Awarded GNFZ’s Net Zero Design - Energy Certification

The Global Network for Zero is proud to announce that Design2Occupancy Services LLP (D2O) has achieved our Net Zero Design certification in the Energy category for their headquarters in Jaipur, India.

D2O, a leading green building sustainability consulting firm in India, has a portfolio of over 2,000 projects in more than 20 countries. The company delivers integrated solutions in energy efficiency analysis, energy code compliance, climate change policy, sustainability strategy, carbon footprint analysis, and green building certification facilitation. With a dedicated and highly experienced team, D2O operates globally, championing energy efficiency, renewable energy, sustainability reporting, and more across projects of all scales.

At the heart of this vision are Ashu Gupta and Kushagra Juneja, Co-founders and Managing Partners of D2O. Ashu, a visionary leader in sustainable development and net zero building solutions, has dedicated over 17 years to advancing energy efficiency. His pioneering work is beautifully reflected at D2O’s Jaipur headquarters — a powerful example of what’s possible when innovation meets purpose. Kushagra, with over 15 years of extensive experience in building engineering and sustainable solutions, brings deep technical expertise and strategic leadership to D2O’s mission. Together, they are driving D2O toward creating a future where sustainability and innovation go hand in hand.

“D2O has long been a leader in sustainability and was among the first to join GNFZ as a strategic partner, committing their headquarters to net zero energy,” says Mahesh Ramanjunam, President and CEO of GNFZ. "Under Ashu and Kushagra’s vision, D2O is setting a global standard. Their Jaipur office, now GNFZ certified, sets a replicable model for others across the region.”

The comprehensive, performance-backed certification from GNFZ not only verifies the successful assessment of D2O’s Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions but also reinforces their leadership in the global net zero movement. Designed for exceptional energy performance, the Jaipur office achieves an Energy Performance Index of around 40 kWh/m²/year and is powered by a 63.88 kWp rooftop solar PV system that generates more energy annually than the building consumes. This surplus renewable generation offsets over 77.75 tCO₂e each year, effectively neutralizing all Scope 1 and 2 emissions, with direct emissions minimized through intelligent HVAC automation. While Scope 3 emissions were not included in the initial certification, D2O is already advancing plans to evaluate and offset them through life cycle assessments and embodied carbon credit strategies.

As one of GNFZ’s early strategic partners in India, D2O will now extend GNFZ’s net zero certification offerings to their clients, further amplifying their impact on climate action.

"Prioritizing healthier living and working conditions made pursuing GNFZ's Net Zero Design certification the clear choice for our headquarters," says Ashu Gupta, Founder and Managing Partner of D2O. "Our commitment at D2O is to ensure every project achieves the highest sustainability standards through innovative technologies and holistic design. This is why we're proud to offer GNFZ certification capabilities to our clients."

This milestone strengthens D2O’s mission to shape a world where net zero buildings are the standard, not the exception, proving that what’s good for the planet is also good for people.
