Global Network for Zero Advisor Elizabeth (Beth) Heider is an accomplished thought leader at the intersection of high-performance buildings and sustainable design, global business strategy, and organizational leadership. A trusted convener, connector, and catalyst for purposeful action, Beth has dedicated her career to achieving professional excellence, breaking barriers to progress, and mentoring others to pave the way for future generations of female sustainability leaders.

In 2020, Beth founded Heider Sustainability Advisors to leverage her significant expertise and relationships to build prosperous and sustainable business for her real estate, design, and construction industry clients. Prior to that, Beth spent nearly two decades at Skanska where she became a highly sought-after and recognized industry expert on sustainable design, business development, and culture transformation. Beth joined Skanska in 2002 and led the pre-construction management of large-scale, multi-million-dollar construction programs. In 2005, she founded Skanska USA’s Green Council to transform corporate culture and to support green preconstruction and construction capabilities nationwide. In 2014, Beth was appointed Chief Sustainability Officer, leading the sustainability efforts of all of Skanska’s four U.S. business units: Building, Civil, Infrastructure, and Commercial Development. In this role, Beth also served on Skanska’s U.S. Management Team.

Beth’s executive leadership has been widely recognized in the sustainable built-environment sector. Beth is a LEED Fellow and an American Institute of Architects Fellow. She has served on numerous not-for-profit boards and industry committees. Beth’s past industry-related board service includes the U.S. Green Building Council – including a three-year term on the Executive Committee as Chair, the Construction Sciences Research Foundation, and the Institute for Sustainable Infrastructure’s Envision Review Board. Beth is currently serving as Chair of the International Living Future Institute Board of Directors.
