Dario Ibargüengoitia is an established sustainability and business transformation leader in Mexico and Central America with more than 30 years of experience and accomplishments in the engineering, HVAC and overall building construction and operation sustainability sectors.

In his current role as Director General at Ambiente Regenerativo Integral, Dario leads a robust sustainability practice with deep expertise in building commissioning; energy modeling; green building certifications including LEED, EDGE, BOMA and FITWELL; the health and wellness certification program WELL; indoor air quality and more. Dario also serves as President of IBALCA, a widely recognized consulting firm in Mexico City focused on sustainable design, construction and operations as well as international standards compliance. Dario also served as President of the ASHRAE Mexico City and Vice President of Certifications of the Mexican Association of Intelligent and Sustainable Buildings (IMEI/Boma).

Prior to serving in his current roles, Dario was a Founder of Sustentabilidad para México (SUMe) where he led Mexico’s green building community as President from 2011-2015 which were considered transformative years for green building market growth in the country. He also served as a Member of the Board of Directors of the World Green Building Council from 2019-2014 representing Mexico. Dario also served as a Professor at the Universidad Panamericana for 16 years.

Dario holds a wide array of professional distinctions as a result of his frequently sought-after expertise including being an ASHRAE Distinguished Lecturer, LEED Green Rater, Fitwel Ambassador, LEED Fellow (Class of 2019), EDGE Auditor, ASHRAE High-Performance Building Design Professional, ASHRAE Building Commissioning Professional and a LEED AP, BD+C.

As an Advisor for GNFZ, Dario will leverage his extensive expertise in sustainable building design, construction and operation and global thought leadership toward the growth of the GNFZ net zero certification platform.
