GNFZ Advisor Annie Bevan is a visionary collaborator supporting the development of community and systems focused on helping industries move from fragmented intent to aligned, measurable action with clear business value for all. As the founder of the Sustainability Management and Strategy Collaborative (SMSC) and its divisions Parallel and Verico, she works at the intersection of strategy, data, and implementation to turn sustainability ambition into practical, scalable action. Her work has spanned the life sciences, built environment, and EPR (plastic and paper) sectors.
With more than 20 years of experience that has spanned various roles in manufacturing, ecolabel and standard development, certification management, nonprofit and for-profit leadership, and cross-sector collaboration. Annie has advised hundreds of product manufacturers and partnered with designers, owners, contractors, NGOs and program leaders to reduce complexity across the materials' ecosystems. Her work has centered on aligning standards, organizing verified, quality data, and embedding sustainability into everyday decision-making to connect business outcomes with environmental and social impact reduction.
As a part of SMSC’s contracted support model, most recently, Annie served as President and CEO of mindful MATERIALS, Inc, where she helped lead the development of the Common Materials Framework (CMF), the industry's first shared language for sustainable building products, and advanced the vision for an interconnected data ecosystem. Under her leadership, the CMF became a foundational framework informing major industry programs, and internal materials standards a-like, including LEED v5, WELL v2, Living Building Challenge, the AIA Materials Pledge, and soon globally with BREEAM and Green Star.
Today, Annie is focused on advancing the next generation of sustainability community building and infrastructure through SMSC and its ecosystem of organizations and partners. Her work centers on supporting data interoperability to accelerate better decisions, obtain ROI data and streamline reporting — helping close the gap between sustainability commitments and real-world implementation, while all stakeholders realize business value. Annie will be advising GNFZ as we expand our net-zero certification to the materials sector.
